This course is a premium priced course that has a bottom tier practice areas. It boggles the mind that a setting as beautiful as WC does not provide a more complete golfing experience. Every year I go and leave thinking that I was somehow short changed. Pick up the pace of play and keep the course in top condition and I will believe that I am getting fair value for my $100.

There are a few things I look for when determining what makes a course great. 1. Are the holes memorable? After playing it I can remember almost every one. 2. Can you walk? The answer is yes. There are minor elevation changes but it really is reasonable. 3. Do you feel like you are in nature, away from the grind? Yes, only a couple of homes are ever in sight. The course is in beautiful shape, with the exception of the greens still filling in from recent aeration. This may be my all time favorite.

Amazingly beautiful design. Each hole is memorable. Easily one of the great courses in the state that anyone can play - possibly the best. Two criticisms: while the rest of the course was in great shape, the greens were marginal at best. Some were even aerated at the end of June. You'd expect better for $99 a round. Also, most of the staff was super full of themselves. A bit stuffy. But then again, when you have a course this beautiful, I can look past all of that. A must play!

After reading the reviews of others, I was skeptical at best. Called the GM to discuss the online issues left about the course. After playing the course, I was rather impressed ! It was nothing like the negative press it received. The course is in "GREAT" shape! Hand one problem on a green that was assured to be fixed. Kudos to the grounds crew and staff!

I love the design at Whiskey Creek bu they've done something to the greens and are not currently in the best shape. Rest of the course is in decent shape but the greens are a bummer. A discounted rate is offered but not enough for me to come back until they fix the problem. Staff and clubhouse is always top notch.

Course gets a par because it's and outstanding design and layout and it gets a Par because the conditions are not up to Par for the reputation and what I've experienced here in the past. The greens are having issues and not as nice as years past. The rest of the course is in good shape but for the price it should be top shelf all the way around.

Played Whiskey Sunday after Hana rolled thru and many bunkers were washed out but what do you expect after 5 inches of rain. Believe it or not, the course drained great. They have some problems on a handful of greens on the front 9 and a lost tee box on No.8. They may not look great but it doesn't affect play or putting. They gave us beverage coupons and $20 green fees discount coupons for the trouble. The putting green was suspect but the course greens were much better.

I played there for the first time last Thursday and did not find the course in terrible shape. The tee boxes were in pretty bad shape due to a lot of play and lack of maintenance. Some of the landing areas on short holes needed attention, but overall I had a decent experience and enjoyed the challenge of the course. I would recommend the course and play it again when the opportunity presents itself.

What a difference a month makes. Played here in mid June and the conditions were excellent. It was my first time playing here and immediately loved it. Played again two weeks ago and you'd think we hadn't had rain for 3 months. Boxes, fairways and greens were dried out terribly. On the 14th hole the pin was placed right next to a softball sized, dead, dried out patch. Very disappointed, from an "I love this course" to - not sure I want to play again.

Played Saturday and the course was in great shape, as always. The greens were the hardest and fastest I have ever seen here, running 12 plus on the stimp meter. The high fescue has grown in for the year, so this course is playing really tough. I find it kind of bogus that you can lose a ball around the bunker in the fescue; luckily it didn't affect me. The only issue I had was pace of play. Although I expect a slow round on a weekend, I wouldn't expect the grounds crew to put the pins on the slope of most greens!

The course is in great shape; greens are perfect true and fast. Fairways are tightly mowed, and the rough is rough and not patchy. This would have been an eagle if the service was top notch. They offer an online system to order lunch that is very slick but we had to still wait for the order at the turn; 10 more minutes. At $100 for a round, my expectations are that things are top notch in all aspects!

Greens where starting to come in and rolling really nice. Fairways where still a little soggy, but not to bad. Overall the course was in pretty good shape and seems like it will be awesome once spring comes. Food, and customer service was outstanding.

Course was in horrible shape. The fairways were yucky and the greens need a lot of work. I do not know what happened to this place but it needs serious attention. I will stay away until they improve the overall conditions of the course. For them to charge as much as they do in season, things better happen fast. O.K. layout not what everyone talks it up to be but Number 14 is the best hole on the course. I guess I would play here again but not for the 90 plus bucks they charge.

I am sure that Ernie Els would be embarrassed by the condition of this course. Two times this year I played this course and could not resolve the price to the condition of the course. The place has not been maintained at a $100 a round level. The pace was 5 hours and no marshals were present to keeping everyone moving along. Several years ago it was a personal favorite but not any more.

Great layout. I play allot of public courses in the DC metro area and this is one of my favorites. Bring your A game and if you can't bring that make sure your short game is up to par.

Excellent course for a special outing. High-priced, relative to other equally good courses in the immediate area. You need to play it a few times to learn where to hit (or not hit!) the ball on some holes. Conditions are excellent.

Top design and in great condition. A tough test for golfers of all skill levels. Back tees will test the lowest handicappers. Get a yardage book, if they have one.Greens, tees, and fairways are in great condition. Green speed is not fast - about average. Routing is through an area that is currently not developed, making it a scenic round. The price is steep, but still worth it for the quality of golf. Much better than other courses in the area in the same top price tier. Pace of play is average to above average. Clubhouse is excellent, as is the snack bar. Staff is friendly and professional.

Everything about the course is first rate, not to mention one of the best designs you'll play anywhere. Scenic views, lots of variety and challenge. The conditions we're top notch from tee to green. If you don't like this course then you no nothing of course design. Only drawback is price but it's worth a visit once a year.

I had not played this course in 2 years. Man they sure have things going right out at Whiskey Creek. Everything about this course is an A+. The greens where awesome smooth, receptive to a good shot and fast. Fairways great. Tee boxes where flat and full of grass. One other thing the customer service at this course was outstanding from the pro shop, to the starter to the rangers. Ate lunch good menu and great food. Grass driving range was open, large putting area to practice.

Great course, no two holes are the same. Really cool layout with lots of elevation changes that seem to be more uphill than downhill. Played March 25 in the afternoon and the twilight rate was $60. The parking lot was fairly crowded, but didn't seem that way on the course. Very nice clubhouse and the bar & grill had a great selection. The burgers are silly!

This is a five flag course but it is showing some minor signs of the rough dry conditions. There are a couple of ground under repair areas with new sod, a couple of greens had some small patches that were burned out. But other than that the fairways were in great shape, bunkers had perfect amount of sand and the design is one of the best anywhere. By the way, the previous poster must have had a very bad round or has a mental illness. Only a hacker would rate this course as a one.

Course conditions were horrendous. Tee boxes, fairways & greens. At $81 greens fee mid-week, you are better off playing your local municipal course 3 times. Mr. Els should be embarrassed to put him name on this course. But I guess it pays the same to him no matter what.

My favorite highend course to play. I get out with my buddies here at least once a year. We played the course last week and it was in good shape especially compared to other course in the area that are showing signs of problems with the heat. The design is outstanding with generous fairways, scenic Par3s and Par 4s with some overlook tees. The 18th is cool with the old house not far off the fairway. The clubhouse and range are always first class with a rustic feel. A pit pricey but worth it a time or two a year.

Played recently with a friend and the conditions and course layout was very nice. The rustic clubhouse is cool with a decent pratice area and range. Would probably give this course a full eagle rating but the cost to play the course is very steep. I know it's an "upscale" course but anything near $100 bucks is to much in my mind.

$95 is a little steep but this is a great, fun course. The only problem I have with the range is that you are hitting into the sun in the AM and is tough to see how all your swings turn out. A great course.

Played on 07/31/05For the amount of money $95 dollars this course does not meet expectations. Course conditions where OK, but not what you would expect from a top tier top dollar course. Tee boxes chewed up, with not a lot of grass on them, and very inconsistent greens and green speeds. Try PB Dye or Hollow Creek if you like upper tier course conditions. Layout is nice

Played here on Thursday in April. We were first off the tee, so no delay anywhere on the course. What a great property! Very fair to a high handicapper like me, but challenging enough from the blue and black tees for more accomplished golfers. I appreciated the lack of gimmicks (except, perhaps, the farmhouse ruins on 18 - I thought it was cool, my partner thought it was a bit hokey). Course makes excellent use of its elevation changes, and has several very scenic and well-crafted holes. Greens were still coming in from a recent aeration, although they were putting quite true. Fairways were in excellent shape for this early in the season. Clubhouse service was adequate, although not up to the service we had received at Musket Ridge the day before. Head to head, however, I'd rate Whiskey Creek ahead of Musket Ridge for its scenery and conditions for this time of year.

Whiskey Creek is a what you see is what you get course, a tough course but fair. Has it's share of ball breaker holes, also some wide open holes with little trouble. A fantastic piece of property and a great atmosphere for golf.Anyone writing a review of a golf course focusing on the range and the driveway in to the place is probably one of the reasons it takes 5 hours to play in this area. Sorry to disappoint you Sean, but they have paved the entrance road to Whiskey Creek. And the practice facility is on par with any of the other ranges I have seen in the area, specifically a place like Worthington Manor. Now, can we focus on what is important - the golf course? Probably the toughest test of golf I have ever experienced here. You miss a drive - bogey. You miss an approach shot - double bogey. This course is a perfect example of risk, reward golf. If you play a great shot, you look like a pro, but if you miss your shot you can forget the hole. The undulations and slopes of the fringes around the greens and rough make this course just tough as nails to score low on. Conditions are top notch, and their clubhouse is fantastic. A must play!!!

Postives: Great Layout, It's a challenge, but fair. The design is spectactualr and supperior to that of many near by courses. The greens were above average, and fairways were clean. The negatives: The round took five hours, The GPS system was broken, the entrance road into the course is terrible, If you dont have four wheel drive, be careful. The practice facility is absolutey the worst of any course in the area.
