The course was in pretty bad shape. It was hard to tell the fairways from the rough on many of the holes due to lack of mowing. Many of the greens were torn up, with bare spots. Bunkers had grass growing through the sand. No cart person on a very hot August Saturday. Its too bad since this course has plenty of potential if it were just taken care of. I would only recommend going here if you want a cheap, quick round and you don't need top level conditions when you play.

Course is currently in rough shape. The course is going to lose a number of greens if steps are not taken soon to improve the conditions. Price is way too steep for the current conditions. Layout is good with some challenging holes but I won't play here again until price goes down or course improves.

Friendly staff, nice woodland views, and great price at $22. But, that's about it for the positives here. Course is really beat up from tee boxes to greens and is in need of some dire TLC. Have to see what 2008 brings as there is always hope.

This course is...well...just a country golf course, nothing more, nothing less. Nice folks, and a good bargain. If you understand what you're in for, it's fine. I gave it a bogey because the conditions are not quite there and the layout is not the least bit memorable or even interesting. There is one cool holes...No. 12 is a long par 4 dropping at least 50 feet, with a creek guarding the green. The good news is it's a tranquil setting, bad news is housing construction gearing up.

Excellent layout. I have played this course many times, and enjoy it every-time. Every hole challenges you on every shot. I love how it is out in the woods, no houses around. Beginning of summer is best time to play. Play it while you can without houses all around it. Within next couple of years, housing development will boom. Get out and play it, you will enjoy it.

When driving up the roads in Fauquier and Culpepper the farmers fields are better looking then South Wales. I live four miles from the course and will not go back and play until they get new owners and clean up the sloppy mess. Fairways have very little grass, greens are bald and tee boxes very little grass. Hitting out of sand trap like hitting off the road.

Hmm, I lean more towards Philip's point of view. It's reasonably priced and it's nice not to have housing tracts everywhere you look, but the condition of some of the fairways and tee boxes are not good.

I grew up at this course and it was where I learned to play. It's a beautifully secluded course with great variety with every hole. The price is right and should probably be higher for what you get. And a side note to Phillip in Leesburg ... Shove your driver where the sun doesn't shine. This course is a classic not just "a cow pasture with flag sticks."

I played this course 3 times over the course of this past summer and the conditions seemed to get worse as the season went on. It's a pretty good deal for the money but just don't expect a championship caliber course here. It's out in the woods for sure. The best way to describe South Wales is the way my boss put it, "A cow pasture with flag sticks".

A relatively unknown, but hidden gem. I have played this course numerous times and the layout is good with excellent greens, but some poor tee boxes. Pace of play is always good and the lack of homes/development around the course adds to the relaxed feel of the course. You truly feel like you are out in the country. The staff is friendly, the clubhouse is adequate, and price is right. Take the time to play this course once and you will probably want to return for another visit.
