This is a pleasant course, that stretches two holes wide up and down the New River. As a flat, fairly mundane routing, its defenses are mainly the diabolical swales and bunkers surrounding the greens, plus various fairway bunkers and mounds. When we played the rough was very high, making it quite difficult to score. Fast greens. Course is in pretty good shape, walkable, and in a scenic setting. Probably a little pricey. Not Pete Dye's best or most memorable, but he didn't really design it.

This course is under construction, being redesigned by Pete Dye. It's a great course to play along the banks of the New River. It is home course to Va Tech and is in a developing area hence the prices are going to rise to play. I would say after the improvements that Dye will make may become one of the toughest in the area. I've seen it in the middle of construction and there will be alot of greenside pot bunkers and long distance holes.
