Reston hadn't been reviewed by anyone in a while. The course is in great shape and this parkland classic is fun to play, though very busy. Huge, challenging greens. Thick hardwoods line most fairways. Rolling hills throughout, yielding few level lies. GPS on carts, but this is one of few courses left that you can comfortably walk. Reasonable price point for No.Va.

Each time I play this course I like it a little more. It's in very good shape considering the heavy dose of play it receives. Not exactly worth $90 plus on the weekend, but twilight rates are very reasonable. Nice carts with GPS. Not the longest course, but the nice elevation changes and tricky greens keep it challenging. Also like the young friendly staff members, which is a nice change from the rude old codgers that inhabit several other NOVA courses!

We went out there for a Friday 2:38 tee time last week and didn’t get off the tee box till past 3 pm. They ran out of golf carts so we had to wait for a cart. Course was in decent shape but the greens were slow. I remember their greens being quick the last time I played here. Pace of play was slow as well. There were no marshals on the course to keep pace of play up. I will think twice about paying full rack rates to play here again.

This great classic layout that was in good shape yesterday. They keep the rough to a minimum which is nice. The course has a great location so you can run into some long rounds here. The staff is nice and they have a good range and practice area. Only drawback is the greens for me. They are huge and I don't know if it's the grass or grain but they are tough to read and were a bit bumpy. There were a couple of really nasty pin placements so stay below the hole if you can.

Golf course is in top notch shape. New GPS system in the golf carts is a welcome addition. Best course on the beltway! Give the management credit for turning this course around.

Played Sunday Dec 23. I gave the Natty a 5 flag rating because the greens are awesome! Unbelievable, smooth and fast.

Course was in very good shape this past weekend. Greens, fairways, tees and traps were top notch. The layout is classic parkland with some huge greens that are tough to read with lots of break on some. The normal men's tees play about 6500 yards so it's a good test for most. There wasn't a starter on Sunday morning which was odd, there was some confusion with the groups going off. Was really the only negative about my entire round.

Made great progress since new ownership has taken over. Nice feature for the driving range - unlimited practice balls for $30 per month. Nice changes to the club house, the Nike learning center. Course was in good condition.

Played on a Sunday morning, course was in fantastic shape. Hardly a bare spot to be found on any fairway, and the greens were immaculate. Course was a little crowded, but I think that was due to the Demo Day at the clubhouse. Finished in about 5 hours. Little annoyed by the fact that they charge for range balls when I'm already paying $69 to play, but luckily since I demo'd a club, I got to hit balls for free. Well stocked snack bar, and the beer cart girl was always around. Great course!

I don't think that there is a better conditioned golf course in the area...ever since the management change, the course is the best it has ever been and the staff is friendly.

A nice solid course. Play here twice a month during the summer. The new management has added a nice touch to the clubhouse and the training facilities. However, the weekend prices for this course is outrageous! Almost $100 during the weekend is crazy. This course is no where near the top public course in the area - Laurel Hill, Pleasant Valley, Bristow are much cheaper and also better maintained.

I love the updates made to the clubhouse and range. Plasma screens are all over and the grill and bar area and the decor gives it more of an upscale feel that they charge for a round. The range has expanded, with actual pin to hit to. The course was in very good shape. Only compaint was the speed of our round, over 5 hours and we were waiting and being pushed everywhere. I guess long rounds are expected closer to the beltway on public courses.

The new range and clubhouse are fantastic! They have flat screen tvs everywhere and the range now has target greens. The golf course is also in great condition.

I have always liked the design of this course and to play close to the beltway is always a bonus. They have recently been updating the clubhouse and range so should be nice when they finish. Course was in decent condition considering early in the season. Expect it to be busy on the weekend though.

While it is the winter, I challenge you to find another course in such great shape. The new management is very friendly and has made dramatic improvements to both conditions and pace of play. Senior rate is very affordable at $39.

Reston National was a pleasant surprise and a great find in the heart of a busy metropolitan center. I've played the course several times in the last few weeks and find in in better shape each time. The greens are firm and short, and not a flat putt to be found. Even from the middle tees, it can be a real monster in distance. There are few water or hazard carries off the tee, but what the course lacks in obstacles, it makes up for in sheer distance. OB is not very far away on any hole; keep the ball in the short grass to score well. Beware, Reston is a busy course. Inquire how busy it is when you try to book a tee time, weekday mornings are a good time. If you play on the weekend or twilight, plan for slow play. Come with the right mindset, have a beer and enjoy yourself, because you're gonna need the focus to shoot well here.

I like the layout and the greens are very unique. The bowl effect of the greens leave from some interesting putts. The conditions were pretty good except off the first cut of rough, some hard pan lies. The tee boxes need work but a good course overall. I shall go back especially with the location. Hard to find any full lenght public course near the beltway thats a challange. Price could be a bit cheaper though.

Staff was excellent. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The greens were in great shape, the fairways are better then most others in the area, but the tee boxes could use a little work. Overall....excellent experience!

I meet a friend here recently for a round and was pleasently suprised with this course. The course sets up well and is a good test of game. The mature trees that line the fairways put a premium on getting off the tee and in the short grass. All the conditions were good except for the tees which needed re-seeding or more attention. Probably a victim of the recent disease from the heat and humidity. If you want a fun challange ond a nice course near the beltway then Reston National is for you.

Rating this course a birdie. Good scoring opportunities. Good "thinking" course. Well-maintained during my couple of visits. Friendly staff. Fairly priced.

Where do I start. This course gives you a short warmup then brings you to your knees. If you don't like long second shots or needing to know how to put, you might consider the Whites. Pay attention to the pin chart and try to stay below the hole. Thats just for starters. Do your golf game a favor and step up to the plate. You won't be sorry.

If your a golf fanatic like me and like a true test, this course is worth the drive. With a premium on driving from the tips, coupled with undulating greens, this track kept me scrambling. It wasn't until I found this site that I wanted to relive my round. Thankfully I discovered the course rating is almost a full 3 strokes higher than par. Score here and your ready for the tour. Thanks Reston!

Overpriced, overrated course. If you like spending six hours on a round of golf behind hackers that don't know a thing about golf etiquette or courtesy then Reston National is the place for you. I can give you the name of 10 other courses in the area that offer a better rate and a better overall golfing experience then Reston National will ever give you. As Michael W. Smith said, "Go West Young Man!"

Reston National is an excellent layout which can be played from varied tees for varied handicaps. The fairways and tees are in excellent condition and there are absolutely no gimmick holes. Everything is right in front of the player. While the front 9 can play a bit short, the back grabs your attention immediately on the 10th tee. Played from the tips, it is a 440+ yard par 4 with OB left and an OB right that pinches in towards the landing area. If that isn't enough, back to back +400 yard par 4's await on holes 12 + 13, both holes are slight doglegs to the left. To make up for the meaty par 4's, hole 14 is a short, but narrow par 4 and number 15 is a reachable par 5. Actually, all par 5's on this course are reachable in 2.If I had to fix anything about this course, it would be 3 things: First, pace of play. The course has rangers but they never seem to move play along. Reston can be a very slow round in the 5 hour range and that is due to people playing slowly and from the wrong tees. Second, the greens are very well designed and rolling, but players do not fix their pitch marks. The greens have craters. Players need to fix their marks. Third, the bunkers often are hard and crusty making them unpredictable. Everything else at this course is top notch.
