I agree with some of the other reviews. This layout was not properly thought out. The developer definitely squeezed an 18 hole layout where he should have stopped at 9. The par 5's are ridiculously doglegged, lots of blind shots all over the place, and short little par 3's that are all pretty much the same. The condition of the course was fine, although the greens were a bit on the slow side. The staff was great, however. This was the first and last time I will play this course.

What a awful layout. It appears the developer after building the homes decided he would use the extra land for a golf course. Not good!

Of the 18 holes there are 5 that I wouldn't play again if my life depended on it, 4 that are barely playable and 9 that are just OK. Just to get in par fives they have four weird ones. Two have bends of 90 degrees, one bends about 120 degrees and the last is short and tight and straight down hill. The have a nice layout for maybe a 12- 15 hole course but they have ruined the whole place by trying to get 18 holes in. I will say that since they cleared out some trees there is now a nice view of the river on a couple of holes.

Aside from the course being in a nice setting, there is almost no reason at all to ever play this rinky-dink set up. It's almost as if a non-golfer designed the course. They have a par- 5 you might even be able to drive (but don't. you'll probably kill someone in the homes 1ying 10 feet off the fairway). They have 7 or 8 par threes and forget about pulling out your driver. Maybe worth a play for $20 (thats from someone who doesn't mind spending $100+ at great courses).

Well done! I haven't been there in two years and they have really taken that club to the next level. It is still target golf but the clubhouse, cart girls, and service were amazing. Oh and 3 dollars for two beers in the bar afterwards, enough said.

I arrived yesterday to find 10 carts ahead of me. It was 1:40pm and the course was empty but they would not let carts out that paid the twilight rate until 2:00pm. The back up was starting at the clubhouse! The rough has greened back up but hasn't been mowed in weeks. The fairways are green but are littered with aeration plugs and divot scalps. The greens are in good shape except there is no fringe. You are either on the green or you are in the rough around the green. he tee boxes are in terrible shape. I don't think the tees have been moved in a couple of weeks as they are full of sand and divot marks. This course was a huge disappointment and it will take a lot of work on their part to get me to play there again.

Considering the dry/drought conditions we are experiencing this summer the Ospreys is in really good shape. David Rycroft and staff have been working hard to keep this course green. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The rough is a little burnt. The greens are rolling true and the pace of play was right at 4.5 hours on a busy Friday afternoon. This a great little "Get off work early to play" golf course. Rates are always reasonable.

While the staff was very friendly, I really can't recommend the course. They've shoe horned it into a very small piece of land, resulting in extremely narrow fairways and tons of lost balls. No range, net, or open putting green. Lots of forced carries over marshland, blind tee shots, and doglegs. The greens, tee boxes, and fairways were in good condition, but the carts, cart paths, clubhouse, etc. all need a lot of work. Looks like they're adding (nice) new yardage markers to the tee boxes.

Worst course I've played in VA. The course has all par 5's under 500 yards so they each dogleg at least 90 degrees. On the back there were two par 5's under 450 yards. The greens were impossibly slow which is too bad because they could be very good if they weren't so bumpy. The greens are average size but have nice elevation changes. The tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, but with many of the holes (including all the par 5's) layups off the tee there should be a distance on the tee to indicate how far to reach fairways, traps or to go through the fairway. There is absolutely no indication of distances on the tees (except for par 3's) causing me to drive through 5 fairways with long irons on par 4's. Additionally, there is no way to see where the pins are on greens. They is no zone indicator of any kind and several of the greens are blind shots. However, the worst part of the course is the closing holes. A par 3 of 120-99 yards over water isn't bad, but a par 5 417 yard 17th with the last 200 yards dropping some 80 feet in elevation was a joke. All it needed was a windmill to putt under. The 18th is an up hill (same elevation change going up this time) 100 yard par 3. I wouldn't play this course for free, let alone the 50 bucks they charged.

Just played this course for the first time. It is definitely a shotmakers layout. It helps to know the layout so you know what to use off the tee box. Interesting holes and currently in excellent shape, everthing is bent grass. Some of the holes are somewhat "funky" like a few short par 3s, one that is straight uphill. Their clubhouse currently resides in the basement of a townhouse, but their new facility should open by September. I would definitely play it again.
