First time here and came away very impressed. Beautiful hilly layout that is a real challenge but still somewhat playable even by hacks like me. Greens rolled true, fairways in great shape, tough rough - about all you could ask for. Par 3s are fun and there are only a couple of weird holes. Add in solid practice tee, friendly staff and decent food, and you get a great experience. Played Whiskey Creek a couple days before and Maryland National was the far better total experience.

Wow! That is about all I can say. The golf course was in fantastic shape, probably had some of the best rolling greens that I have played on this year! The staff was about as nice as you could expect at any private club, really made you feel good. Played here and at Musket Ridge over the course of a week and what a difference in the two. I highly recommend anyone in the area to check out this gem of a course!!

Only an hour from Baltimore, I found this course very playable and enjoyable from the gold tees. A few rough spots on some greens but they rolled very well even after a few inches of rain the night before. Course is well maintained and the staff treats you like a member. Fairways, rough and bunkers were all in very good condition. Beautiful mountain track.

Overall this is an fun golf course to play in the MD foothills. The practice facility is excellent with grass tees most of the time. The staff is always helpful and the clubhouse has excellent views overlooking the finishing holes. There are 14 very good to outstanding holes on the the course with about 4 "quirky" holes. One hole allows no view of the green until you are on the green. No. 11 is also a somewhat blind approach.

Very well maintained course. They have already healed from aeration which is awesome! Greens rolled great and everything else was perfect. Can’t find one bad thing to say about my round there. Staff was excellent and the GPS was very accurate. I would recommend this course to everyone to check out.

When I arrived I was told that they were aerating the fairways on some of the holes but the pro shop knocked off $20 off the greens fees and honestly there were only 5 holes that this may have occurred on. While I was expecting the greens to be really fast they were not but it doesn't mean they were super slow either but some of them had some damage in them. Fairways were in decent shape and the rough was not overbearing, no real penalty for hitting into it. The overall experience just left me expecting a bit more.

Played Saturday and the course is in excellent shape. Greens were rolling quickly, breaks are a bit hard to judge, and I had many edge burners that just wouldn't fall into the cup. Green overall was in really good shape except one, Par 3 Hole 6. The prevailing winds make this course a lot tougher. Course management is a must to score well here! We had a group of 16 golfers and everyone enjoyed the course and most would like to play it again. Revenge factor!

Eight of us got out on Saturday. Conditions were great. Tee boxes and fairways were close to perfect. Greens where very good with the exception of one. Great food and drinks. Service was outstanding. Cute cart girl!

Played two rounds there on Saturday. Perfect tees, fairways, and rough - like carpet. The greens were just good, not perfect. Most were very smooth, but a few (#6 in particular) showed some signs of trouble and/or disease. There are some fantastic views of the mountains. The design is very good, but 16 and 18 are just wicked. Main downside is that they don't allow walking, and golf was meant to be walked. Also, excellent restaurant and 19th hole - best I've been to at a golf club.

I played Maryland National today. It was the last day of their aerification special so I got out for only $40! With the exception of two greens, you would never have known they had aerated recently. The course was in great shape and was a fun layout though a couple of holes look to be kind of scrunched together (number 10 in particular is very narrow especially up at the green). The par-3s as a group are beautiful downhill holes and really define the course. My other favorite hole was number 2, the straight downhill par-5 with beautiful mountain views from the tee box.

Highly recommended for golfers who appreciate interesting/fun layouts and scenery. Greens are fast and very small. The condition was excellent, couldn't find a dead spot. One of the best courses in VA and MD. Check it out, you won't regret!

Greens where fastest and smoothest I have played all year. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. Customer Service was very good. Nice big practice facility with great short game area. Treat yourself and go play.

Played here Saturday and the course was in fantastic condition. If you've played here you know the holes on the high-ground remain firm while the few of the low-lying holes are soggy due to recent rains. The greens were great, firm and fairly quick, maybe running at 10 plus. Pace of play was an issue. We started at 9am and didn't see the group in front of us until the 10th and it was all down hill from there. Even with a Marshall on the scene it seemed to slow down even more.

I love this course while others hate it. Conditions are always great, I think their greens are the best in the area but the course is a tough layout but a must play.

The course was in perfect shape from tee to green. The views and design is very nice but just a bit tricked up for my prefered tastes. A few blind shots and the way some of the fairways are mounded on a couple of holes you can't see the green even with only 150 yards away. Just didn't make sense to me. It's a tough track so if your a high handicapper it might be a difficult day. The greens are small targets but roll perfectly. It's a fun play every now then.

Amenities - A+, Course Conditions - A+, Service - A+, Pace - A+. I wouldn't advise playing this course alone the first time. Bring someone who has experience here. You will have a bunch of blind shots that even with the GPS will leave you wondering "what if". This is one tight track too. Bring an extra dozen balls, cause you will lose them. You'll probably find just as many as you lose, which tells you that you will be severely penalized for any wayward or missed shot. Definite MUST PLAY!

Played this course on sunday morning, second time i've played. The best greens in the area, fast and true. Great design, arthur hills is one of my favorites. Conditions are impecable, and the service is great. Pace was perfect, never had to wait at all. One of the best courses if not the best in the wash dc area.

Beautiful course, nice variety of holes, great views. The pace of play was excellent for us (we played on a Wednesday morning, and went around for 27 holes). Fairways and greens are in incredible shape, and the course design is challenging enough to keep you thinking, but nothing that I would call unfair.

Beautiful Mountain Setting, very similar to Musket Ridge, which is down the road. MDN: Has fast and pure greens, better than most in area. Layout is above average, but they seemed to jamb in the last three holes, which are in terrible condition. The staff is great, practice facility is average at best, pace of play was average, and overall it is definately worth playing. I would suggest playing here, then go to Musket, Which is very similar setting but has a much much better course design.
