Wonderful course. First time I ever saw sink holes while I played. Great, but hard 1st hole. No. 5 was my favorite. Overall, I felt the course was a fair challenge, with plenty of variety. You get nice views of the mountains, as well as the Shenandoah River. It was worth the drive out. Can't comment on pace, since I had the course to myself when I played. Also, other reviewers mention the turn is not at the clubhouse. If you really need to get some food, you can still get to it.

I must admit that this review will be completely biased. I spent the bulk of my childhood and teen years playing here with my father, who is still a member. The views are spectacular and the staff is extremely friendly. The opening three holes on each side are tough, but the rest of the holes are relatively open. The large sinkholes sprinkled throughout the property are something you will find on few other courses. It's a great daytrip for DC area residents.

Ahhh, the mountains in October. The one great thing about Caverns CC is location and beautiful views. This course is a must visit in the Fall and despite the long drive; over an hour and 40 mins for me, it's worth the trip. For a mountain course, front nine was wide open both left & right for errant shots off the tee. Back nine was a bit tighter, but not too bad. Bad news here is ammenities. Chow down before you head out as stated before, hole 9 and 10 don't contact the clubhouse. Greens are sweet.

Played April 15, 2006. Course was nice overall. Greens in excellent shape although very slow. Bunkers weren't the best of shape. The most disappointing aspect of the round was that it was in the 80's and there wasn't any water on the course or even a Beverage Cart. The 9th hole doesn't come to the clubhouse so you are on your own. For the price paid you would expect a little more.

Extremely scenic course. Conditions were good when I played there, although the greens had recently been aerated. They still rolled pretty good, though. I definitely would recommend this course.
