Course is usually in nice shape. Greens are fast & true, and fairways and tee boxes are nice. Pace of play is due to the many blind shots & hills; one of the best MCG courses.

The course was in very good shape compared to the previous years. The fairways were in perfect shape, tee boxes looked good and the bunkers had a decent amount of sand. The greens weren't the best to look at but they rolled very consistent and extremely fast. Some of the most beatiful views of any course in the area!

Absolutely horrendous pace of play, nearly 6 hours, the Marshall was utterly worthless. I will never go back to this course again.

LB has a new head pro this year so things are a little different. The bunker work is mostly complete. Greens were aerated on 4/13 PM. The starter has been moved to the first tee. It looks like the areas that were allowed to grow to long grass last year are going to be mowed this year (as was in years past). Plan on 5 hour plus rounds on weekends. The greens have Po Anna mixed in; it's the light green stuff. They were VERY hoppy, but they should grow in fine after the aeration.

If you've played the course before you know about the blind shots and quirky par 3s. It's a test of a course and some nice holes as well. The main reason I gove the course a below par rating were the greens. There is some kind of different grass in them and they bump and move everywhere. You don't have any chance unless it's pure luck at making anything under 4 feet. The fairways and tees were in nice shape and they were working on a few of the bunkers.

Played today on the 'Members for a Day' special. Great deal since the replays are free & comes with food. Course was in good shape although the 3rd green was recently aerated & pretty bare. Since I haven't played here in a while, it seems like the greens were a lot slower than normal. Usually the greens are hard & super quick, but maybe the change in mgmt has changed things. Anyone have an update on this? I like fast greens & is why I like to play here. I can play elsewhere if I want slow greens.

Worth the drive north to avoid the slow play that you find at most of the Montgomery County courses. Don't expect the service to knock your socks off, but the course is in good shape. The layout is difficult, especially considering how poorly marked the course is. There are a lot of blind shots that will give the first time player a hard time. Not a good course for beginners, but an experienced player will appreciate the course. GPS would be a great addition to the course.

I came back to this course after witnessing some of the worst greens I had ever seen a year ago. Well I'm pleased to say that the course is back in excellent shape! They have brought all of the greens back and they were rolling well with great pace. The fairways were great and tee boxes were nice. I actually was able to stay out of all bunkers, but the ones I saw looked fine. The practice facility was in great shape and we were able to play in about 4:30 hours on a Sunday morning, A+

It's a beautiful and challenging course. It's not for everyone, but that makes it a real treat for some. It's tough to walk (steep hills). It has a reputation for lots of blind shots, but most blind shots are either risk-reward or a result of a bad shot. Play is slow on the weekends, 5 hours. Great practice facilities. LB had big trouble with some greens and tee boxes in summer 2006. Two of the greens were thin, sandy, long and slow while recovering in Oct -Nov.

Played Fri 9/22 Course is discounting greens because of bad conditions to some of the greens. All the par 3s and a few par 4s greens were really bad, mostly dirt. At least they're discounting, far better than most other places. Always challenging w/ many blind shots, thick rough, and forced carries. This course has been known to have super fast greens, but this time they were rolling avg speed. Could be the rain and lack of rolling greens. Very inconsistent, but hopefully mgmt will shape it up soon.

This course is usually a bit more expensive and usually in great shape. It was in the worst shape I have ever seen. The majority of the tee boxes were dirt, sand and crab grass. The faiways seemed to actually be in decent shape. The two sandtraps I was in dinged my clubs because of the amount of rocks and lack of sand that were in them. The greens were my biggest complaint. I don't kid when I say that five of the greens were rolled dirt! Some of the greens were nice, but it was impossibe to figure out the speed. I love the Montgomery County golf courses, but they need to put a lot of work into this one before I consider coming back.

Of the county owned and run courses in Montomgery County this one has the layout and challange not found at many munis. The conditions were good when I played last week. The course is difficult if your above a 15 handicap, a few blind shots and elevation changes where club choice is key. Playing conservative is a good approach but not much fun. Customer service was ok, starter was kinda rude but what starter isn't.

One of my favorite courses in design and fun challanging play. But the service and people working there really do a poor job at customer service. First of all, $72.00 with cart on weekend. With that price, it's in the high end category. If you charge that price you should recieve good service. Including "FREE RANGE" balls. 70 bucks to play then 5 bucks for 30 balls, please. Our round was very slow, no marshall on the course and got put down when we complained about the pace. I won't be back.

My favorite Montgomery Co. course, and my favorite in the entire DC metro area for the price. And all this despite the fact that it kicks my butt every time I play there. There are no easy holes here - your very first shot of the day if over water, the par 3s have severe elevation changes, the par 5s are long, the rough is punishing, and the greens are fast. You'll probably need to play it more than once to really "get it", but it's worth the effort.

The course is a very tough design, so if you're used to playing Haines Point this might be a bit of a jump in challange. You have to hit targets or you will get punished. I was very impressed with the conditions, compared to other high end daily fees near by it was in the best shape of all. The dry conditions all the courses are showing didn't have nearly the effect as other courses. Seems like the mgmt takes better care of the course here. Only item showing issue were greens. All else, great!

This course has a reputation for blind shots, but there are really only 4 (9, 13 [tee and second], 14 [second] and 18 (not counting going for the green in 2 on the par 5s). Otherwise if you hit it to places you can see, you're fine. Now there are blind places on most holes where trouble lurks. And if you're not in the fairway on your tee shot, there are plenty of additional blind shots to take. So if you have a chance to play here, it helps to have an experienced buddy. If not,use the course map

Played on a Sunday morning in April. Pace was OK - even though they were doing good business, my foursome made it around in 4 1/2 hours. The course is very scenic and has some interesting holes, but frankly the design isn't my cup of tea. Many, many blinds shots. Just a little too gimmicky for me and some of it was just a bit goofy, like a severely downhill par 3 that plays to a green that slopes away from you. I'm a high-handicapper and so I wasn't expecting to burn it up - I didn't score THAT badly actually, but it seemed like my group had a lot of good shots that weren't rewarded. Of course it didn't help that the greens were very sandy and didn't hold anything (greens had been aerated about two weeks ago). Would be interesting to play once the greens are in peak condition - they have a lot of slope to them, so if you are above the hole you are looking at trouble. On balance, I can appreciate that the course is a thinking man's golf course, as ball placement is critical to scoring well here. I also am not sure about the value proposition here, as MNCPPC charges a premium relative to their other courses. I'm not sure I'll be back, although it might be interesting to see when it's in peak condition. I think I need more "what you see is what you get" - because of the layout here, there was way too much of "what you can't see is what you get"

My favorite Mongtomery County course. Even though it is difficult and I never score real well the layout is awesome. There are two Par 3s that are like hitting off a cliff to the green below and the 9th and 18th are another two shots to the green that will make you suffer if you don't hit a good shot. Very thick rough so expect a long day if you can't hit fairways.

Played this course this past Sunday. Course is in real good condition with two cuts of rough of which the thicker of the two is punishing. Greens were in ok shape with lots of slope on some and with the pin placement you have to stay below the hole. Has quite a few blind shots and you have to pick and hit your targets to score well.
