Course has changed it's name to the Rivanna Golf Club. The tee boxes were terrible, dirt and crabgrass. The greens were OK, but extremely furry and slow. I had to putt twice as hard as on normal greens. Course has potential. It was in good condition two years ago, but has deteriorated. The staff, especially a very friendly cart lady kept this from a double bogey course.

Nice course east of Charlottesville. Short, but very interesting layout with elevation changes and tree-lined fairways. Monster par 5's to begin and end your round (1 and 18). Hole #1 is a double dogleg that plays downhill until the 100 yard marker and goes uphill from there. Many interesting holes, but my favorites are numbers 4 and 17 (both are beautiful par 3's). You can play all day for the same rate, so I usually try to play two rounds. Each time I've played here, it's not crowded, so pace of play is excellent.

I rate this course above average because it has a nice layout and it is tucked away from the world. Each hole is isolated and you can't see any other holes on the course. Ball placement is important so long hitters only benefit on a few holes. Nice and quiet with afforadable greens fees. The range isn't the best but a range is for hitting balls into field anyway. I look forward to playing this course every year I go to VA.
