Just played Herndon Centennial and overall the course was in good shape. The bunkers need some work with standing water in a few areas. The recent rain left the traps hard, but the greens were in great shape. The pace of play was average for a Sunday afternoon on a public course...a little less than 5 hours. Always a fun course.

Herndon continues to hold its own as an in-close, affordable and not-that-challenging offering in NOVA, which obviously makes it a very popular choice at that. Very traditional look and feel. This is a fun course for just basic, straight ahead golf. Conditions are always solid when I've played at Herndon Centennial Golf Course.

While not especially challenging, this course has been in great shape. It has been an excellent course to "walk on" this summer.

I can't believe I've never played this course in the past 20 years. I was very pleasantly surprised. This is by no means a great course, it's a reasonably easy, sort of above average muni. But it's in fine conditions, it's a pleasant setting, and it's reasonably priced. It's also a course where people seem to favor walking, which always scores points in my book. Greens were a little bumpy and I found them unpredictable to read.

In town on business and got a chance to play it. Was very surprised that the greens were so bumpy. Good variety of holes and the course was not long, which worked well for my game. Fairways were decent, though some had loads of crabgrass. Get a cart for some holes are a ways apart. Pace of play was good and finished the round in about 4 hours.

Decent layout, nothing too challenging. In great condition for a muni-course. Greens and fairways were beautiful. Played Thursday afternoon at 5 and pace was surprisingly quick. Too many walkers on the course though.

This is my local course, and I've been playing it for about 2 years. It's in the best shape I've seen yet, and others who have been playing it for several years have told me the same. Last season's improvements are really starting to take shape. Pace of play is usually decent, and though the course is not overly-long, it is challenging. Some nice elevation changes and a good variety of mature trees make this a very scenic course, especially in the fall. Highly recommend it.

Actually, very good for a muni. Conditions are fine, fairways, greens, traps and rough. Not a difficult course and no forced carries or serious trouble. Does have enough traps and woods to make it interesting. Some water, but not a serious threat unless you hit a poorly placed ball. Nice little driving range and practice green. Some seniors play here, but they are not too slow. Good course for a cheap weekday practice round if you are not expecting Westfields' conditions.

I played this course earlier today. It is in horrible condition. Greens are having a serious fungal problem, impossible to putt. Fairways were splotchy, alot of bare spots and bare areas.

Still, if it were in good condition, I would love to come back and play this course. The layout is very well done, with creatively placed bunkers that actually come into play and require some thinking. Not a flat course either. I had fun thinking around this course.

As I live in the town, I play here with some regularity. The layout is approximately average---although there are some nice holes on the back 9 (11, 12, 13, and 18 in particular). The par 3s on the back and all three par 5s are very ordinary, but these holes do provide the mid-high handicapper some good scoring opportunities. Typically the fairways and greens are in very good condition with the tee boxes and rough less well maintained. (Recent upgrades to some sand traps have helped.) This was the case through the spring of '05, but as of late July, the course has gotten too little water, with the greens suffering substantially. When in top shape (in the fall again?), this is one of the better values around if not a spectacular layout.

This is a short course even from the back tees but there is a nice flow to the course with water in play on several holes, several doglegs, and even a couple of blind tee shots that make the course interesting. There is sufficient roll to the course as well which keeps things visually appealing. The fairways and greens are generally in good condition.

In very good shape, not too crowded at all. Good deals in the afternoon.
