Deep within the Pocono Mountains and only
80 miles from New York City lies the inviting retreat known as the
Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. With rich awe-inspiring views
and fantastic amenities this 80 room
historic inn is the perfect destination to leave the "beltway blues" behind.
Nestled along the
Delaware river, the Inn is well known as a golf
retreat for New Yorkers.
The flexible facilities and countless activities provide the perfect
environment for any weekend getaway and
is only a 4 hour drive from Washington DC.
Accommodations:
With a variety of rooms
at affordable rates the inn has every type of accommodation
to to meet any need. Each room is tastefully appointed and instills a
cozy yet elegant feel of years gone by. Some of the rooms
have beautiful views of the Delaware River and the world famous
Appalachian Mountains of Worthington State Park.
With a lodge style
touch perfect for large groups, the
Delaware court is
located alongside the
fairway of the red course. Each room has two trundle beds and
overlooking the course. One of the best extras of these select
accommodations is the large Japanese soaking tubs that are perfect
for nursing those aching muscles "back to new" for your next round.
Dining
and Amenities:
The romantic and elegant atmosphere of the
Dogwood Dining Room offers a wide variety of
cuisine. The well appointed wait staff and service is first
rate.
If a more "laid-back" dining
experience is your preference, then Charlie's Lounge has a
fun feel with great bar food. The full service bar is
a perfect 19th hole for that cold beer after your round and
the big screen TV is perfect for catching up on the weekends
televised PGA event.
Recreation:
The
Shawanee Inn is the only resort on the water for a 100 mile
stretch of the Delaware River. They offer day and overnight
trips of varying duration by canoe and kayak, as well as day
trips by river rafts and tubes.
With a heated indoor pool, any day is a good day for a dip.
The Jacuzzi tube is close by to restore those aching muscles.
It's our favorite way to get your body rejuvenated and ready
for that next round of golf.
Golf:
The
golf course was designed and
built in 1906 by A.W. Tillinghast. The same course designer
who designed Winged Foot and Baltusrol.
With a variable mix of
tree lined Par 4's and Par 3's with little room for error, an
accurate shot maker will score well at Shawnee.
