Renditions Golf Club

Renditions Golf  Like most golf enthusiast, I have often wondered what it would be like to play the number 11 hole at Augusta National, with its infamous "Amen" corner lurking from the left of the green. Have you ever wondered if you could hit the #17 island green at the TPC at Sawgrass?

Well wonder no more my friends, the Renditions Golf Club in Davidonsville Maryland in between Washington DC and Annapolis has successfully put together an 18 hole golf course that is comprised with replicas of the most famous golf holes in the world.

Each hole is a replica in every facet from tee to green providing a golf experience unlike any other in our area.

Renditions GolfAmigos favorite Hole: The hole we liked best on our trip to the Renditions golf course was the # 7 par 3 which is a replica of the #12 par 3 at Augusta National. Touted as the toughest Par 3 in the world the Amigos were determined to tame this beast with our best iron shot.

What makes this hole so tough is the size of the green, it's very small. Considering the position of the water hazard in front and a minuscule bit of fairway at the side of the green your tee shot has to be almost perfect for a chance at birdie.

On this day one Amigo stayed dry and the other one wet but neither was capable of taming this hole.

It was very difficult to choose just one hole as our favorite because every hole is unique. Unlike other courses that have their individual style and flair, Renditions has blended the flavor of some of the most famous golf courses in the world and made available the reality of testing your best shots against them.

Renditions GolfWe do have one warning for those who find frustration in being humbled. Do not expect to score well on your first trip here. Even though theses holes are just replica's, they still play the same. Meaning if the pros play them on a regular basis, you won't find them easy to score well.

My advice is to appreciate them as a test. The bunkers are many and water hazards not friendly. Bring some extra balls because the  replica of the #17 island green at the TPC at Sawgrass is very hungry and will expect to eat more than just one.

Review Date: 06/01/2002

Course review ratings are conducted on a five point scale. ( 1 = Double Bogey 3 = Par 5 = Eagle)

Tees:
In decent shape. Need to stagger the hitting areas more. Some tees boxes were very worn.

Fairways:
Great in shape and form easy to hit from and tailored truly give the feel of the replicas holes home course.

Rough:
One of the best aspects of the course. The rough at each hole was very true to the individual replica hole/course. On the hilly replica of the the Royal Lytham & St. Annes # 16 the "heather" and long grass was very picturesque and true to the originals.

Traps:
In good shape and true to the originals. Some traps were wet though making for tough escapes.

Greens:
Spectacular. You must bring your "A" putting game when visiting the Renditions course. Playing this course gives you even a greater appreciation for the pro putting game.

Amenities:
Outstanding clubhouse with adjacent full service bar and restaurant.

Staff Services:
Everyone was very courteous and helpful during our visit. Need more water stations on the back nine.

Pace of Play:
Not much wait on any hole. Even though the course was busy the groups were spaced well.

Overall Average: 4.3, Birdie Course
Nice Course, to play recommendation

The Amigos would like to thank Mr. Jeff Sheehan the Director of Golf and the staff at Renditions golf course for allowing the GolfinAmigos to visit and review the course.
