Rattlewood Golf Course
Right across
the Frederick County line on the outskirts of Mt. Airy lies the wide
open play of the Rattlewood Golf Course. The expansive
fairways of this long course are both wide and generous for all
levels of play.
Initially a private
course for a housing community, Rattlewood was acquired by the
Montgomery County golf network of courses in 1995.
Amigos favorite Hole: The Par 4 number 6 was the hole
we liked the best mainly because of the initial long tee shot
over a large pond
to a the fairway landing area 140 yards away. Once safe
and dry your left with a second shot another 150 yards
straight to the left for your approach to the green. This
day both amigos managed to stay dry and got to the green in
three. One Amigo was able to par the hole while the other
two putted for a bogey.

Tees:
Long tee boxes in good shape.
Fairways:
In adequate shape. Well groomed.
Rough:
Rough was ample and wide off most fairways allowing for those of us with hook and slice potential room for recovery.
Traps:
Traps were a bit hard in places but strategically placed.
Greens:
In good shape and a bit fast.
Amenities:
Excellent club house with adjoining grill, and full service bar. The fully stocked clubhouse has all the latest equipment. The grill area has a very spacious lounge are that is perfect for after round drinks and food.
Staff Services:
Staff was pleasant and accommodating to all needs and requests.
Pace of Play:
On this chilly and windy Saturday there was a decent wait to get off the 1st tee. Our initial start of play was 15 minutes past the tee time but once on the course there was little to no wait between holes.
Overall Average:
3.8, Par Course
OK Course, might be worth a play
