Needwood Executive

The Number 3 Green at the Needwood Executive Course Like the larger 18 hole course at Needwood the executive is very popular because of its location. Not far from the shady grove metro station this executive is ideal for after work short game practice.

Access to a good Par 3 or executive course during the work week is a necessity for those wanting to improve their game, not to mention a nice alternative to the driving range.

The ability to practice those short chips onto an actual green, getting the feel for the putting stroke and hitting the shorter wedge shots are ideal for keeping your game in check and honed for weekend play. Sometimes especially for us weekend golfers we tend to spend to much time concentrating on the driver or long iron shots

The island Par 3 at the Needwood Executive CourseAmigos favorite Hole: The most unique hole on the Needwood executive is the Par 3 number 4. Right at 100 yards the green is surrounded by a small pond. An accurate wedge shot off the tee is necessary and your better off to long than short because behind the green there is a small area of rough.

On both sides and in front of the green the pond is a drawing force, pulling any and all stray tee shots. Luckily both amigos successfully hit the green and were without a wet ball on this day.

Review Date: 03/30/2002

Course review ratings are conducted on a five point scale. ( 1 = Double Bogey 3 = Par 5 = Eagle)

Tees:
The tee boxes were in fair shape. Could use some improvement.

Fairways:
In adequate shape. Not spectacular but not bad either.

Rough:
In good shape and lots of it. Very forgiving course for rough standards.

Traps:
Traps were hard. The two traps I hit out of felt like they had not been raked in weeks.

Greens:
Greens had just been aerated. Most courses will tell you ahead of time but we didn't find out until we putted on the first hole. Would have been nice to have been at least warned.

Amenities:
A large clubhouse with a full service grill.

Staff Services:
All of the staff was fair, not the friendliest group around though.

Pace of Play:
It was a nice day and the pace was slow. On weekends at most courses beginners are not allowed but this was not the case at Needwood. The foursome in front of us had two people that took like 12 shots to complete each hole.

Overall Average: 2.9, Bogey Course
