Musket Ridge Golf Club

Number 1 Fairway at Musket Ridge Golf Club  In the rolling hills between Hagerstown and Frederick Maryland is the picturesque small town of Myersville, home of the newly developed Musket Ridge Golf Club. A true marvel in both course play and appearance, this course is majestically carved from the surrounding landscape for a golfing experience like no other.

One of the newer great high-end/daily-fee courses sprouting along Maryland's "unofficial golf trail", Musket Ridge blends both perfectly beauty, unique design and playability for all golfing levels making this course a must stop the next time your in search for a round away from your home course.

Fairway view at the Musket Ridge Golf ClubAmigos favorite Hole The Par 4 number 1 was the hole we liked most because the downhill tee shot narrows to a small landing area.  On the left is a large bunker and if to long on the right a small pond is in prime location for potential danger.

Both Amigos were lucky enough to stay safe from the tee and were able to hit the green with their second shot. One amigo hit a long putt to save par while the other still getting used to the green speed settled for a bogey.

Review Date: 04/27/2002

Course review ratings are conducted on a five point scale. ( 1 = Double Bogey 3 = Par 5 = Eagle)

Tees:
Long staggered tee boxes in meticulously perfect shape. Great variation in length to challange all skill levels.

Fairways:
Beautiful in form, best fairways of any course reviewed this year. The encompassing feel given by the fairways that dip from out of bounds from side to side provide a level of confidence that carries from tee to green.

Rough:
Rough was discernable and thick. Need for keeping the ball in the fairway applies highly at Musket Ridge.

Traps:
Traps were accurately placed and well maintained. A bit hard due to the recent rain but forgiving.

Greens:
In great shape both in form and design. The speed is what makes this course stand above any other in the area. Pin location is challenging but approachable from all sides on most greens.

Amenities:
Great clubhouse with everything the golfer could need or desire. Expansive and oozes with first class style and charm. A great location for outings or a getaway round with your buddies

Staff Services:
Staff was pleasant and accommodating, extremely gracious. The courtesy bag carried from your car to cart and club cleaning by staff after your round is a great touch.

Pace of Play:
No wait on any hole and plenty of time to hit. We were not rushed by a group behind nor was there any wait in front. Great for maintaining rhythm.

Overall Average: 4.8, Birdie Course
Outstanding Course, must play recommendation
