Rocky Point Golf Course Birdie

Posted by Adam, Mount Airy, MD on 3/9/2010 1:18:44 PM

First round out after the Blizzard of 2010. Course was in rather good shape. I had expected it to mushier but it really wasn't. Greens rolled faster than expected. The only problem was that the bunkers were a little hard, but what should we expect at this time of year? Great course overall.

Laytonsville Golf Course Par

For the dead of winter the course was average. The greens were bumpy and hadn't been rolled and the twelve different kinds of grass in the greens were at different lengths. The cold made for some tough tees to penetrate the permafrost but a day on the course in the middle of winter, especially during this cold winter is better than no golf at all. For $30 which includes cart you can't expect to much. The design is fun and playable for new and old golfer alike.

Bristow Manor Golf Club Bogey

Played here Saturday and found that the Zoisia fairways have turned yellow and died off. There isn't anything really left but a muddy sod and when you tee off, your in better shape aiming for the rough then the fairway. I was disappointed with the $60 they charged me for the conditions that were present. I'd advise to keep away from this place until spring when the grass comes back. I like the layout of the course and the staff is always friendly. Can't wait to hit this one next year.

Timbers at Troy Golf Course Par

Fairways were in their usual condition here which was full of divots, but most were repaired with sand. Some fairways were soggy as other readers have commented, this course does not drain very well. Greens were hard on some holes rolling fast while others were damp and soft rolling somewhat slow. Traps were hard as a rock on some holes but, soft sand was present at other holes. Overall, conditions were ok for this time of year.

Needwood Golf Course Par

Posted by Daniel, Gaithersburg, MD on 11/16/2009 9:11:14 AM

Played Sunday and the course was in very good condition considering it's mid November. Rough was consistent and the traps were in decent shape. The greens were slightly bumpy and the pace of play was very poor. I guess it's expected on a 70 degree November day.
