Course seems to be in better shape right now (hot dry summer of 2010) than other munis in the area. Grass is green and few bare spots. Pace of play not too bad on the weekend. Definitely worth a play.

Course has potential; there are some interesting holes, but some serious problems. I play with my wife so I notice things like the lady's tee boxes which are terrible here, often just a mown area in the fairway, sometimes with more grass than dirt. There is only 1 water cooler per/nine holes. The condition is pretty poor right now, but it is a very hot and dry summer we are having in the Mid-Atlantic, and a lot of public courses are in bad shape right now. 27 holes a plus.

This course has gone from marginal 30 days ago, to extremely poor conditions. It appears that the greens were over watered, and fungus has killed 1/3 of the putting greens. The tee boxes also have lost massive patches of grass. Maybe management can get the course back to par by next year. But I would not play it at any cost.

Course is average to a little below average on an East Coast rating I would rate the course a 3-4 on a scale from 1 to 10, if you have ever played Harbor Town PGA in Hilton Head South Carolina this course is a 9 Compared to Myrtle Beach courses like Barefoot Resort I rate them a 7 and Big Bend WV a 3. Big bend has the potential to be a good course, it gets a lot of play but no money goes back into the course for the necessary repairs. Currently the course is in bad shape and in need of repairs.

Lovely course in the Shenanadoah Valley that has some very tight holes on the White and Blue and some that are a little bit more open. Friendly staff and laid back atmosphere are the prominent feel here at SV. Fairways were a bit beat up by the summer heat, but the greens were in very good condition. Layout itself is a simple up and down winding course with some deep bunkers and no water holes on the White or Blue. Very nice and scenic to play in the Autumn. $35 with cart on weekdays.
