I played here on a Monday morning in July and our round as a threesome took 5.5 hours. The course is in great shape, fairways 4, rough 4, greens 4, tee boxes 3. After a 2.5 hour 9 hole round waiting on each tee box, the Marshall told us to let a doctor play through, also a 3-some. The staff is lost, range was closed. Overall experience was poor.

Excellent layout and good course conditions.Challenging without being tricked up or impossible for an 11.Friendly staff and reasonable rates.Well worth the trip.

Agree with the aforementioned comments about the bunkers, they are hard and lack sand! The pace of play was also an issue this Saturday, our round took over 5 hours. The marshals were out and about on the first nine, but nonexistent on the back 9. We had to wait 30 minutes to tee off at the turn?? The good news was that the tees, fairways, and greens were in excellent shape. Unfortunately, the good did not make up for the bad, so it will be a long while before I return.

Friendly golf staff in pro shop and concessions. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Areas in the rough were dried out and the sand traps were like concrete bunkers. Rocks in your beverages are good, not in the sand traps! Best part of this course is the location as it is only 0.2 miles from Route 95 which makes for easy access.

Very good course for a county course. Greens had recently been aerated, so they were a bit slow. Pace of play was slow, foursome ahead of us were brutal and finally on 14th hole Marshall told them to speed up play. Traps could use work, fairways in nice shape. A good value for the money. Must stay in fairways to score well, not a long course but fun to play. Staff in pro shop and grill were very friendly and helpful. It is recommended you use a cart for the course is very hilly

The course has a standard layout for a County/Public course. It favors accuracy over length, but it is not ridiculously tight. The greens are better than average. Only negative are the sub par sand traps. For some reason the marshal was obsessed with our pace of play even though we never saw a soul behind us. If you see Marshal Bob, tell him I said, "Hi".

Course in pretty bad shape. Too bad since I always thought this was one of the better kept secret in the dc area. Marshall was a joke - telling us to hurry up when the course was packed on father's day with no where to move.

Nice and very challanging course offered by the county. Not your typical muni, more of a higher priced design at a reasonable price. The service was ok seems they were a bit understaffed yesterady when I played. The layout is demanding especially if you can't drive the ball straight.

A couple of years ago I wouldn't have recommended this place, but it has really made some strides. I was very surprised to see the improvement in the fairways and greens. Conditions were right up there with Cannon Ridge and Augustine. The layout is good with lots of elevation changes. The value here is probably the best in the immediate area. I plan on playing here a lot more this year.

Played on 7/16/05 @ 3PM. Fairways are in decent condition. Greens are extremely soft, slow, and alot of unrepaired divots. Seem like the greens haven''t been cut for few days. Played behind a foursome who didn't pickup their feet when walking on the green especially around the hole. We had to pat down the green on every hole before we putt. Played 2 months, condition was much better. Two months ago condition was like a 3+. However, I would have to say condition on 7/16 got to be less then 2.5.

One of the best municipal courses in the DC area, though not widely known. A good diversity of play. Well-kept fairways, tee boxes and greens were in fine shape. Only one hole with water, the only disappointment.

Price is very nice at this well maintained course. For a hot July day, there was ample water on the course and it was cold! Location is perfect right off of Route 95. Clubhouse staff and starter were very friendly and helpful, this course is definitly worth a visit. I also enjoyed a great round with three lovely ladies who helped me navigate the course as it was my first time. I loved Forest Greens and I know that you will too!

This course has an opportunity to be a real "must play" again. Unfortunately, they do the small things very poorly such as no pencil on the cart, no sand/seed mixture in the plastic jug on the cart, and traps are hard as a rock (how about a power raking prior to Sunday morning play?) When they charge the rates they charge, these things should be taken for granted but are not. The course marshalls are more concerned about where a cart drives than keeping the pace of play moving.
