Course seems to be in better shape right now (hot dry summer of 2010) than other munis in the area. Grass is green and few bare spots. Pace of play not too bad on the weekend. Definitely worth a play.

This course had diseased greens that are in the worst shape I ever seen. They still charged full price and when I asked about it they just shrugged their shoulders like it was my tough luck. They were right.

I always like playing here. The design is really nothing special but the conditions and service is always top notch for the price. I wouldn't drive out of state to play it but if you're in the area it's worth checking out.

Really nice course! Great conditions throughout, including fantastic bunkers. The course is not overly long or tight, but boy, these are some of the fastest greens I've ever played. And those well-conditioned greens have plenty of undulation too. Some nicely elevated tees on the Par 3's. Can't beat this course for $39 weekdays with a cart. Friendly staff too!

Played Clustered Spires today. The course is in great shape, lush fairways and greens and bunkers that are smooth and consistent. As far as the layout goes, a lot of the holes look the same, nothing is too penal from the white tees. A few holes stand out. Number 11 is a short par-4 with water both left and right off the tee and a narrow landing area, presents a good decision making challenge off the tee. Number 15 a good long par-5 with a strategic layup area and a plateau green with good bunkering

I took Chris' advice below and he was right. Greens and fairways were lush and not burned out, just rough was browned out at certain places. Good layout where some holes are short, but well trapped and pins were in well protected locations today. Planes and helicopters could be a distraction to some flying near the airport, but the course is worth a visit as mentioned by reviews below. Friendly staff and nice clubhouse amenities. I enjoyed it.

First time I have ever played here. Very nice course and excellent conditions for the price. Greens where some of the best I have been on this year. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. I really like the layout of the course. Open enough if you lose a tee shot left or right you can still play. A nice relaxing round of golf. Proshop and rest of the staff very friendly. Go and play it

Very friendly and open for new golfers and women. The pros and staff go out of their way to give you the tee time you want and treat you like you are at the best private course. Highly recommended for taking juniors also. You feel good after playing this one.

A nice friendly course thats a fun play. Its always it decent condition and the city does a nice job keeping prices reasonable. On the other hand, you get lots of hackers who hit 20 shots a hole. Todays round took 5 hours and 45 minutes. I'm all for everyone playing the game but please moniter groups and tell them to pick it up after tripple bogey or worse.

Played here this past summer and the conditions were very good. Course was too crowded for my tastes, and I was disenfranchised for the lack of a decent twilight rate. Still, it's a good challenge for a muni run course.

One of the best deals in Frederick. Slightly less quality than the Premium upscale and upcost courses in Fred. co. (pb dye, musket ridge, worthington, md natl.) Always great greens and fairways. Fun to play- great driving course.

Always one of the best maintained courses in Frederick - good twilight rates. Worth your money. Nice new sitting area on 19th hole with outdoor tv.

Great Value, Nice fairly open course. Great greens, always roll true. New sand in bunkers. Great food and 19th hole setting.

Played this last weekend. Its always in good shape and very approachable for a 15 plus handicapper like myself. Wide open off the tee and no hole is very long. The traps and greens are always in great shape. And the price is very good compared to courses closer to DC.

A decent course, nicely maintained. Wide open and relatively short. No real suprises and a friendly track for new hackers. Very popular on the weekend so make your tee time in advance.
